During my blogging hiatus, NY, Paris, Milan, and London all had Fall/Winter 11 Fashion Week. OOPSIES good timing on my part! The downside is that I didn’t get to express my LOVE for the shows that I…loved.
So, if you would, allow me to take this time to draw your attention to Marchesa’s Fall 11 collection and explain why fashion gets to me. The creative directors explained the inspiration from the “decaying opulence” their collection oozes from the character Miss Havisham from Dickens’ Great Expectations. For those of you who snicker at the statement “fashion is art”…I dare you to hold your ground. For a RTW, this collection borderlines couture, but I really can’t get over how beautifully constructed each piece is.
Blakey Lively wore one of the dresses at a recent event and look how much fun she’s having. “I’ve never read Great Expectations but I sure look damn good!”
More power to her. Although I have read Great Expectations and I’d highly recommend. In fact, it’s ending is one of my all-time favorites.
