Moving to a new place means apartment hunting, which is slightly stressful. I’m mostly looking at renovated apartments in old Victorian buildings and crossing my fingers that something perfect turns up. It also means that I get to decorate a new place. And it’s not just a college apartment…this is an upgrade. My first grown up place and I want my room to feel like my sanctuary. Since I have a semi-grown up job, I want a reminder not to take myself too seriously. Therefore I have developed the following decorative theme:

a gypsy bachelorette who lives in an enchanted cottageĀ

dun dun dun! No but seriously. I want a really really whimsical aesthetic, without looking too childish. My biggest requirements are basically the following:

I don’t want anyone to walk in and think “I totally saw this exact room in Ikea!”

and/or

“This looks like a 35 year old, very boring cat lady lives here.”

Nay.

I want someone to walk in and say:

“MAGICAL DECOR BITCH!”
